Ueland Junker McCauley & Nicholson (UJMN) is an award-winning design firm based in Philadelphia with special expertise in architecture, museum planning, and exhibit design. UJMN developed the conceptual design of the Samuel H. Jones Innovation Center during a limited design competition in 2005 and was subsequently selected as the lead architect. In addition to the building’s core and shell, UJMN designed all of the interior tenant spaces. The 45,000-SF facility is the first building in the planned development and will set the tone for the remainder of the Tech Park, reflecting its mission “to expand and strengthen a research and learning environment, establish a technology-based entrepreneurial economy, and create value for the surrounding community.” The Samuel H. Jones Innovation Center integrates the principles of sustainable design and is seeking LEED Silver certification. The building’s high-performance building envelope employs a white roof that is heavily insultated; high-performance glazing; abundant daylighting; and photovoltaic panels for on-site electrical energy production. |
